Earnings season is upon us, so it’s time for me to minimize exposure and keep an eye on sector performance.
Earnings season is always messy. You can try to predict outcomes all you want, but it’s ill-advised. Instead, the focus should be on protection and waiting for stocks and sectors to prove themselves worthy of new long positions.. For example, if bank stocks are reporting good numbers, then it might make sense to take a manageable position in a bank stock that hasn’t reported yet. However people try to play it, earnings season tends to break a lot of accounts.
Key announcements next week:
Of these, I’m long (in various accounts) $MSFT $NFXL $JNJ $ISRG . There are a lot of companies listed here that I’ll consider adding long on good reports with price pullbacks. Some of these charts are truly stellar.
