M1 Finance is a user friendly investment platform that brings a unique twist on passive income. With M1, you can create ‘pies‘ with targeted weight of various investment instruments (slices). I’ve only had an account with M1 for about a week and it’s definitely for the passive investor only. This is NOT a trading platform. Your account will rebalance only once/day and at prices derived from M1. Don’t get me wrong. I like M1 as a passive, dividend growth investment option.
Account Update (opened Sept 11)
Deposits:
I’ve setup a weekly, auto-deposit of $100. I’ll leave it a $100/wk for now until I get more comfortable with the overall process and investment options.
Balance:
The only change I made this week was the addition of a bank. It’s a someone risky move (banks haven’t been the best performing sector this year), but OZK is a little oversold and pays a 3.31% Dividend and maintains a very low Payout Ratio of 26.49%.
As you can see from the chart below, OZK’s PE ratio is low, but appears to be putting in a bottom. If this is true, the equities return could improve which should increase my total return when baking in dividends.
